Welcome To
Monkstown Hockey Club Development Fund

One of Ireland’s oldest hockey clubs — with one of the largest memberships in the country — is homeless.
That’s a problem we believe that we need to solve, not just for today, but for future generations of Dun Laoghaire–based hockey players.

The MHC Development Fund exists for one clear purpose: to raise the funds needed to secure our own land and, in time, build a new pitch and clubhouse we can finally call our own home.

While the Development Fund operates under the umbrella of the MHC Executive Committee, it is run by a separate group focused entirely on this long-term goal.
Every donation made to the fund stays in the fund — it is not used for the day-today running of the club.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely not, we have a strong and vitally important relationship with the school and hope that it continues into the future. Our current demand for pitch time actually exceeds the two pitches at the school and building our own home pitch not only gives us a new central location but solves this problem.

Actually the surprising answer to this is yes. We have already identified a couple of sites that could work if we had the funds right now.

100% of your donated money (less any commission charged if you donate by credit card) goes into a separate bank account called the MHC Dev Fund that is within the overall Monkstown Hockey Club accounts. These funds may be invested to increase returns for the fund but they cannot be used for day to day club funding.

Most events we run have costs associated with them (golf course hire, dinner location costs etc) so really the question is what happens to the net gain. For all events 90% of the net gains will go to the MHC Dev Fund and 10% go to Monkstown HC day to day funding activities for that fiscal year.

The chairman is Ali Murdoch. All members are volunteers (aka Conscripts) and the current list includes Jonathan Sellers, Una Murdoch, Mark Cahalane, Ian Stuart, Penny O’Neill, Paul Kealy and Peter Nichols (as the MHC Exec committee representative).

Well that’s easy, just go to our “cause” page at idonate.com and pick whether to make a monthly donation or a once off.

Initial target is to raise €1M as soon as possible. Overall goal is to raise €3M.
